Allerdings ist die saure pH-Umgebung von Tumorzellen eine Folge, nicht die Ursache der Tumoraktivität, und die genannten Studien sind, soweit ich weiß, nicht in komplexen Organismen repliziert worden: bei Labortieren oder Menschen.

I’m afraid that the scientific basis behind this statement is not very solid. In principle, the argument put forward by the proponents of this theory is that tumour cells are in an acidic environment (which is true, due to their high metabolic activity), and they believe that alkalizing our fluids would eliminate them. In this respect, there are studies performed with tumour cells in culture showing that they do not survive in a medium with a high pH (alkaline medium). However, the acid pH environment of tumour cells is a consequence, not a cause, of tumour activity, and the studies I mentioned in cultures have not been replicated, as far as I know, in complex organisms: laboratory animals or humans. Alkaline diets may have some health benefits, but I fear that there is no scientific basis for claiming that they prevent or cure cancer.

Me temo que la base científica detrás de esta afirmación es muy poco sólida. En principio, el argumento esgrimido por los defensores de esta teoría es que las células tumorales están en un entorno ácido (lo cual es cierto, y consecuencia de su elevada actividad metabólica), y que alcalinizando nuestros fluidos las eliminaríamos. En esta línea, hay estudio realizados con células tumorales en cultivo que muestran que éstas no sobreviven en medio con pHs elevados (medios alcalinos). Sin embargo, el pH ácido del entorno de las células tumorales es una consecuencia, no una causa de la actividad tumoral, y los estudios que menciono en cultivos no se han replicado, hasta donde yo sé, en organismos complejos: animales de laboratorio o humanos. Las dietas alcalinas pueden tener ciertos beneficios para la salud, pero me temo que no hay fundamento científico para afirmar que previene o cura el cáncer.

Temo che la base scientifica che si trova dietro questa affermazione sia molto poco solida. In generale, l’argomento portato avanti dai difensori di questa teoria è che le cellule tumorali si trovano in un ambiente acido (il che è vero, ed è una conseguenza della loro elevata attività metabolica), e che alcalinizzando i nostri fluidi le elimineremmo. Su questa linea, ci sono degli studi realizzati con cellule tumorali in coltura che mostrano che queste ultime non sopravvivono in un mezzo a pH elevati (mezzi alcalini). Tuttavia, il pH acido dell’ambiente delle cellule tumorali è una conseguenza, non una causa dell’attività tumorale, e gli studi di cui parlo in coltura non sono stati replicati, per quanto ne so io, in organismi complessi: animali da laboratorio o esseri umani. Le diete alcaline possono avere determinati benefici per la salute, ma temo che non vi sia alcuna base scientifica per affermare che prevengano o curino il cancro.
