The spa is made up of: a wet area (with Turkish bath, Finnish sauna and therapeutic shower with chromium programmes/aromatherapy and slimming); a thermal area (with caldarium, tepidarium, frigidarium, hot Kneipp pool and cold Kneipp pool); and a relaxation zone (a room lit with a starred ceiling where guests can lie back and relax in chaises-longues).

My correspondents all felt that the postdoc ideally offers a chance “to learn the academic ropes and to allow research skills to develop and mature in a more nurtured way”. They described the postdoctoral fellowship as “an important buffer zone,” “a career saver,” and “a brilliant career step if you can get it”. However, they also remarked that although fellows should use this transition period to take an active part in the intellectual life of a university, a one- or two-year fellowship can effectively become a grant for writing job applications, which seem to require increasing amounts of time and effort.

Ils ont décrit les études postdoctorales subventionnées comme étant « une importante zone tampon », « une bouée de sauvetage » et « une étape de cheminement de carrière géniale, si l’on y a accès ». Ils ont toutefois aussi noté que même si les chercheurs postdoctoraux devraient utiliser cette période de transition pour prendre part activement à la vie intellectuelle d’une université, une bourse d’un ou deux ans pouvait ne servir qu’à remplir des demandes d’emploi, une tâche qui requiert de plus en plus de temps et d’effort.
