Ich war beeindruckt von der Organisation dieser Gruppe polnischer Ritter des Malteserordens, die aus einem Koordinator, dem Priester Henrik Blaszczyh, und aus vier Ärzten besteht und die sofort zur Stelle war. Sie haben ihr Quartier in der Botschaft bezogen und haben sich von dort aus organisiert, um den Flüchtlingen aus Ossetien und Gori zu helfen, das tagelang von den Russen besetzt war.

I was impressed by the organization of this Polish group of knights of Malta, composed of a coordinator, the priest Henrik Blaszczyh, and by four doctors who arrived at the right time. They established their headquarters in the Polish embassy to Georgia, and from there they organized their actions in favour of the refugees arriving from Ossetia and from the city of Gori, which had been occupied by the Russians for some days. The refugees couldn’t take anything with them, they just had a few clothes on, they had come on foot and looked for shelter in some peripheral neighbourhoods of Tbilisi, such as Isani. These people consider themselves Georgians, and they fled after the Russian occupation. Today there are less than those 130,000 of the very first days, since after the liberation of Gori some of them have returned home. However, many of them (we don’t know the exact figures) have stayed. They come from Ossetia and from the areas still occupied by the Russians and are in need of everything.

Me impresionó la organización de este grupo polaco de Caballeros de Malta, compuesto de un coordinador, el sacerdote Henrik Blaszczyh, y cuatro médicos que llegaron justo en el momento oportuno. Establecieron su centro de operaciones en la embajada de Polonia ante Georgia, y desde allí organizaron sus actividades de atención a los refugiados de Osetia y de la ciudad de Gori, ocupada durante algunos días por Rusia. Los refugiados no pudieron llevar nada con ellos, llevaban sólo lo puesto, habían llegado a pie y buscaban refugio en los barrios de los alrededores de Tbilisi, como Isani. Esta gente se considera georgianos, y huyeron de la ocupación rusa. Hoy hay menos refugiados de los 130.000 que llegaron en los primeros días, puesto que tras la liberación de Gori algunos volvieron a sus hogares. Sin embargo, muchos de ellos (no tenemos cifras exactas) decidieron quedarse. Son de Osetia y de zonas aún ocupadas por Rusia, y están muy necesitados.

Sono stato colpito dall’organizzazione di questo gruppo di cavalieri polacchi dell’Ordine di Malta, composto da un coordinatore, il sacerdote Henrik Blaszczyh, e da quattro medici che sono arrivati tempestivamente. Hanno fissato la loro sede nell’ambasciata in Georgia, e da lì hanno messo a punto le loro attività a favore dei profughi che arrivavano dall’Ossezia e da Gori, occupata per diversi giorni dai russi. I profughi non avevano nulla, pochi vestiti addosso, erano arrivati a piedi, e si rifugiavano in quartieri periferici di Tbilisi, come quello di Isani. Si tratta di profughi che si sentono georgiani e che sono scappati dopo l’occupazione russa. Oggi non sono più 130.000 come nei primi giorni, in quanto, liberata Gori, diversi hanno fatto ritorno a casa. Ne rimangono però ancora molti – il numero è imprecisato – che provengono dall’Ossezia e dalle zone ancora occupate dai russi. Sono bisognosi di tutto.
