Ensuite, les cinéastes travaillant en Suisse partagent le même contexte culturel et la même histoire, et ils reviennent sur les questionnements des décennies précédentes. Aujourd’hui comme hier, ils s’inspirent – mais aussi s’indignent – des mêmes sujets: le paysage suisse, le fossé séparant les zones urbaines et rurales, le système éducatif, le monde (souvent contesté) de la finance et de la politique, les défis de l’immigration. Le ton de leurs réponses a cependant changé. Alors que les cinéastes des années 1960, 1970 et 1980 affichaient leur opposition et leur critique sociale, les jeunes cinéastes d’aujourd’hui tendent à être plus nuancés, plus subjectifs et moins ouvertement dogmatiques. La raison en est sans doute que les jeunes cinéastes incarnent de nouvelles voix et identités. Si les générations précédentes faisaient des films au nom des immigrants et d'autres minorités, certains jeunes cinéastes appartiennent à ces groupes eux-mêmes.

Ausserdem haben die in der Schweiz tätigen Filmemacherinnen und Filmemacher denselben kulturellen Hintergrund und teilen dieselbe Geschichte; sie greifen immer wieder auf Motive früherer Jahrzehnte zurück. Wie damals lassen sie sich auch heute von ähnlichen Themen inspirieren oder irritieren, wie etwa die schweizerische Landschaft, der Graben zwischen Stadt und Land, das Bildungssystem, die kontroversen Welten der Finanzen und der Politik sowie die Probleme rund um die Immigration. Doch der Ton hat sich verändert. Während die Filmschaffenden der 1960er-, 70er- und 80er-Jahre oft eine klare oppositionelle, sozialkritische Position einnahmen, neigen die jungen Cineastinnen und Cineasten von heute zu einer subtileren, subjektiveren und weniger dogmatischen Haltung. Vielleicht liegt das darin, dass die jungen Filmschaffenden neue Stimmen und Identitäten vertreten. Die früheren Generationen machten Filme im Namen der Immigranten und anderer Minderheiten, während manche junge Filmschaffende heute selber zu diesen Gruppen gehören.

The cover, with its rough canvas and handwritten text, sets the tone of the piece. Just from holding it, you can feel the density of the modestly sized book. But what could have been an inconvenience, given the nature of works formed by an assemblage of images, proved itself to be an advantage because the editor played with it, alternating double pages with small formats  white bordered and full-page photographs.

La couverture en toile rugueuse et l’écriture manuscrite rouge donnent le ton de l’ouvrage. Dès la prise en main, la densité du livre se fait sentir par son poids et le format relativement modeste. Mais ce qui aurait pu être un inconvénient étant donné la nature des œuvres formées d’assemblages d’images se révèle un atout parce que l’éditeur en a joué, alternant les doubles pages avec des petits formats avec du blanc tournant et des photographies pleine page. Un livre fort et intense.

Pratiquement toute l'équipe du département de psychiatrie de l'HGJ, dirigé par le Dr Karl Looper, ainsi que plusieurs médecins et infirmières de l'hôpital se sont mobilisés pour l'occasion. « Aucun autre événement au Québec n'est parvenu à sensibiliser à ce point l'opinion publique ni à mobiliser autant de ressources au profit de la santé mentale, souligne le Dr Looper. Davantage de sensibilisation, un accès aux soins amélioré, la réduction de la stigmatisation associée à la maladie mentale et la possibilité d'intervenir rapidement en cas de crise s'avèrent essentiels et seront mis en œuvre pour venir en aide au nombre croissant de personnes souffrant de troubles mentaux grâce à ces fonds. Chaque personne laissée pour compte en est déjà une de trop. »
