This well-preserved mediaeval town, whose center is the cultural monument, even today performs the function of the administrative, cultural and mercantile center. The Benedictine convent of St. Margarita, besides numerous valuable sacral relics and pictures, cherishes also the tradition of making “baškotini”, the aromatic crunchy biscuits that are offered at the entrance of the convent.

Überall in der Stadt kann man außer schön gemeißelten Pfosten an den Eingängen der adeligen Häuser und Höfe auch Barockbalkons, Steinwappen aus dem 15./ 16. Jh. und das majestätische Portal auf dem Fürstenhof sehen. Diese gut erhaltene mittelalterliche Stadt, deren Kern ein Kulturmonument bildet, hat auch heute noch eine administrativische, kulturelle und wirtschaftliche Funktion.

Hier kann man das Auto parkieren, hier beginnt auch ein Wanderweg, der unterhalb des riesigen Autoviadukts verläuft. Nach zehn Minuten gelangt man zu einem Kiesstrand mit einem winzigen Naturhafen. Dahinter erhebt sich eine imposante, steile und vom Zahn der Zeit und des Wetters polierte Felswand. Vor Abermillionen Jahren war dies ein Teil einer Hochebene, auf der Dinosaurier herumliefen, wie die dort gefundenen (Fuss-)Abdrücke bezeugen. Der Weg führt anschliessend über Stufen auf den Grat hoch. Dann plötzlich wird die Stille des Waldes durch ein mächtiges Getöse durchbrochen. Noch einige Schritte und der Blick wird frei auf einen gewaltigen Wasserfall, der aus der Risletenschlucht in seiner ganzen Wildheit herabstürzt.

El monasterio fue fundado en el siglo XIII por la madre de Santa Inés, la cual vivió en él sus últimos años. La encontrará representada a los pies del Cristo en el tímpano del portal que adorna la entrada principal de la iglesia del monasterio. Le asombrará su portal ricamente adornado, hay doce apóstoles en vez de pilares y la decoración floral alrededor es un pedacito de gótico francés en Chequia. En el complejo del monasterio se encuentra el Museo de Podhorácko, con una exposición sobre la historia del monasterio y una parte dedicada a la paleontología y mineralogía.

Ainda hoje vive aqui uma comunidade de monjas cistercienses que mantém a espiritualidade do lugar. O mosteiro foi fundado no século XIII pela mãe de Santa Inês para que ela vivesse aqui até a sua morte. Encontrarão uma imagem dela nos pés do Cristo no tímpano do portal que decora a entrada principal da igreja do mosteiro. O portal ricamente decorado consterna os visitantes, os doze apóstolos no lugar dos pilares e a decoração com flores ao redor são um pedaço do gótico francês na República Tcheca. Na área do convento se encontra o Museu da região Podhorácko com a exposição sobre a história do mosteiro e, contando com uma parte dedicada à paleontologia e mineralogia.

Uwagę przykuwa bogato zdobiony portal wokół głównego wejścia do kościoła klasztornego – kamienne figury apostołów przy kolumnach, dekoracyjny motyw roślinny, a w tympanonie wizerunek Chrystusa, u stóp, którego upamiętniona została także założycielka klasztoru, królowa Konstancja, matka św. Agnieszki i króla czeskiego Wacława I. Na terenie zespołu klasztornego znajduje się Podhorácké muzeum, a w nim wystawa poświęcona historii klasztoru oraz eksponaty z zakresu paleontologii i mineralogii.

Jahrhunderts bezeugte, zum Unesco-Welterbe zählende Kloster St. Johann in Müstair (Graubünden) ist weit über den mittleren Alpenraum berühmt für seine karolingischen Wandmalereien. In unseren Breiten weniger bekannt ist, dass das seit dem 12. Jahrhundert von Benediktinerinnen bewohnte Kloster engste Beziehungen zum Tirolischen unterhielt, ja, dass der Konvent im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert zu mehr als der Hälfte aus Tirolerinnen, zumal Südtirolerinnen bestand. Das in siebenjähriger Forschungsarbeit entstandene, über 500 Personen erfassende biografische Handbuch macht ein hierzulande oft vergessenes Stück gemeinsamer Bündner und Tiroler Geschichte eindrücklich wieder lebendig.
