The legendary restaurant now operates under the helm of acclaimed Turkish Chef Ahmet Kara, who joined the Ciragan Palace culinary team in 1993 as commis de cuisine. Prior to representing Tuğra, Kara has worked at the hotel’s Laledan restaurant where he was the Main Kitchen Chef. Since Kara’s appointment, the restaurant’s menu has been enhanced by the addition of many exciting and traditional dishes that offer guests the “ultimate Ottoman dining experience.”

Cevat Sakir Kabaagaçlı, also known as “The Fisherman of Halicarnassus”, is deeply associated with Bodrum, where he started to live in 1927 after being sentenced to three years' exile and, having fallen under the spell of the town, continued to live for 25 years. His pen-name is a reference to Halicarnassus, the name of the city in antiquity. He is largely credited for bringing the formerly sleepy fishing and sponge-diving town of Bodrum, as well as the entire shoreline of the Blue Voyage, to the attention of the world. Sounds like something for the bucket list for us!
