The »Square of Bokelian Marine (V), called also the »Square of Mayor« or the »Square of Museum« is north of the Cathedral, with the palace of ancient family Grgurina (72) transformed into the Maritime Museum and the next small square with the old fountain Karampana (78). More on notrh is the »Square of St Nicolas« or »Square of St Lucas« (VI) , named by here existing churches of St Lukas (35) and St Nicolas (53). On east direction, behind the apsis of St lukas church (35) is the »Square of Milk« where the inhabitans of interior sold the milk or cheese or cream. The square near the church  of Sta Maria »of the river« not long ago was called the »Square of Wood« because here the peasants sold the fire-wood in the bales of horse-loads. Also not long ago the interior yard of the monastery   of Our Lady of Angels (58) was created as a quiet square without name, with enormous   tree of white poplar (IX)..

From 1985 to 2011 artist focus series have been accompanied by the publication of monographs in collaboration with major Italian publishers.

Baghdad in the 9th century A.D. was a cosmopolitan city, exciting both commercial and intellectual activity. While the Arabs had lost official privileges, their language acquired a rich literature as many poems were written in Arabic and works from other cultures were translated into it. New translations of Greek philosophical writings became available during this period. The Islamic religion developed a theology competitive with that of other religions. Mutazilite scholars debated such questions as predestination, free will, and justification by faith. The doctrine of a “created” Koran as embodiment of God’s word was analogous to Christ’s role in Arian Christianity. One type of religious thinking tended to be legalistic. A second represented the rationalism of theologians like the Mutazilites. A third, which stood in stark contrast with the other two, sought direct experience of God. Persian Shi’ites in the late 10th century formed a fraternity of Sufi mystics who practiced their religion through poetry, ecstatic chanting, and dance.

(1962-1963), opera donata da Emilio Vedova nel 1966 su invito di Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti per il costituendo Museo Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea, che esemplifica la fase matura dell’artista nei suoi addentellati con la cultura di protesta, fra arte e politica, e con la dimensione scenico-musicale (la collaborazione con Luigi Nono), nonché l’approdo compiuto della sua ricerca informale.

(1962-1963), a work donated by Emilio Vedova, in 1966, in response to an invitation by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, to the then-forming Museo Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea; it exemplifies the artist’s mature phase, his ‘tongue-and-groove’ interaction with the culture of protest, with its art and politics and with its scenic-musical dimension (his collaboration with Luigi Nono), as well as the point of arrival of his Informale research. In order to create traits d’union among the various sections, it was necessary to document the major seasons of Vedova’s activity and to select works that attest to the highest and most emblematic yield of his qualitative research. The selection on show traces the salient passages in Vedova’s art from the memory of Futurism reread in an abstract key in dark, monochrome and exact colour fields to the explosion of the gesture and colour on the canvas surface with an obstinacy that is ever more ‘furious’ and filled with existential implications. The exhibition concludes with a painting from the 1980s, a large-format work which, in its power and pace, recalls the young artist’s inspiration drawn from Tintoretto’s sublime decoration in Venice.
