On July 9, 2011, IRCAD (Research Institute against Digestive Cancer) inaugurated its second international branch, IRCAD Latin America, a new research and training center in minimally invasive surgery located in the state of Sao Paulo in Brazil, in the presence of Prof. Jacques Marescaux, president of IRCAD, Mr. Henrique Prata, director of Hospital de Câncer de Barretos, Mrs. Sybill Storz, CEO of Karl Storz Endoskope, Mr. Roland Ries, Senator-Mayor of Strasbourg, Mr. Arnold Munnich, counselor of President Nicolas Sarkozy for biomedical research and health, Mr. Yves Bur, parliamentarian, Mr. François Loos, parliamentarian, former Minister, Vice-President of the Regional Council of Alsace, Mr. Alain Beretz, President of the Strasbourg University, Giovanni Guido Cerri, State Secretary of Health, who represented Geraldo Alckim, Governor of the state of Sao Paulo, José Serra, former Governor of Sao Paulo, and several Brazilian political representatives.

Le 9 juillet 2011, l’IRCAD (Institut de Recherche contre les Cancers de l’Appareil Digestif) a inauguré sa deuxième antenne internationale, l’IRCAD Latin America, nouveau centre de recherche et de formation à la chirurgie mini-invasive implanté dans l’état de Sao Paulo au Brésil, , en présence du Pr. Jacques Marescaux, président de l’IRCAD, de M. Henrique Prata, directeur de l’Hospital de Câncer de Barretos, de Mme Sybill Storz, PDG de Karl Storz Endoskope, de M. Roland Ries, Sénateur-Maire de Strasbourg, de M. Arnold Munnich, conseiller de M. Nicolas Sarkozy pour la recherche biomédicale et la santé, de M. Yves Bur, Député, de M. François Loos, Député, ancien Ministre, Vice-Président du Conseil Régional D’Alsace, de M. Alain Beretz, Président de l’Université de Strasbourg, de M. Giovanni Guido Cerri, Secrétaire d’Etat à la santé, représentant M. Geraldo Alckim, Gouverneur de l’Etat de Sao Paulo, de M. José Serra, ancien Gouverneur de Sao Paulo, et de plusieurs représentants politiques brésiliens.
