McCain Foods Limited, based in Florenceville, Canada, operates a major potato-processing plant in Burley, Idaho. Originally built in the 1960s, the Burley plant is one of several McCain locations throughout the United States. With increasing demand for potato products globally, McCain is investing more than $100 million to expand its Idaho facility. The plant employs 500 people and has annual sales of $125.5 million. “Our plant employees are dedicated and proud to be part of a growing workforce,” said Jeff McCray, plant manager. “In addition to hiring more employees, we plan to buy potatoes locally for the new third production line, which means more business for our local community.” McCain Foods entered the U.S. market more than 30 years ago and is a leading supplier of frozen potato and snack food products for the foodservice market, national restaurant chains, and retail grocery stores. McCain Foods USA, headquartered in Lisle, Illinois, employs 4,500 people and operates production facilities in Illinois, Maine, Washington, Wisconsin, Idaho, New Jersey, California, and Nebraska.
