En el caso de Colombia, lo que en 1972 comenzó como un grupo de ahorro navideño entre 33 empleados de una empresa de ensamblaje de automóviles, se convirtió en una de las cooperativas de ahorro y crédito más grandes de América Latina - La Cooperativa Confiar. Similarmente, la Cooperativa Cotrafa, se fundó en 1957 por 161 trabajadores de una empresa textil llamada Fabricato, al formalizar su “natillera” o grupo de ahorro al que cada semana aportaban parte de su salario.

On pourrait faire valoir qu’il s’agit là du domaine de la politique étrangère réelle du Canada et que, nonobstant le bavardage des intellos, nous en parlons étonnamment peu, et ce, même (et peut-être surtout) dans nos énoncés de principes et autres déclarations officielles sur nos relations extérieures. Le contexte nord-américain est ce qui importe le plus pour nous. Aussi confions-nous pour l’essentiel le bon fonctionnement de la politique aux mécaniciens, ce qui dans le contexte de la chose publique réfère à un vaste ensemble de fonctionnaires dispersés, et souvent déconnectés, au sein d’une immense bureaucratie, alors que nos politiciens tentent de temps en temps de couvrir le processus de déclarations à la fois intéressées et non pertinentes par rapport à ce qui se passe réellement sur le terrain. Bref, nous avons érigé des prétentions cosmétiques en vertu, tout en faisant travailler nos experts les plus compétents sur ce qui nous enrichit.
