Les reptiles sont capables de régler partiellement la température de leur corps à l'aide de la chaleur rayonnante provenant du soleil, qui leur est fournie par le système d'éclairage ou l'ampoule Ceramic Heater dans le terrarium. Dans leur biotope naturel, les reptiles utilisent souvent des surfaces chauffées par le soleil comme des branches, des pierres ou le sol de la forêt comme conducteurs de chaleur.

Reptiles and amphibians are ectotherms, or cold-blooded. A proper heating system is thus a very important factor of the natural terrarium set-up. Reptiles are able to regulate their body temperature partly through radiant heat from the sun, provided by the lighting system or the Ceramic Heater in terrarium conditions. In their natural biotope, reptiles also often use surfaces heated by the sun, like branches, rocks or the forest floor as a heat-conductor. The Heat Wave Rock and Heat Wave substrate heaters simulate these natural conditions by heating the rock or substrate of the terrarium, stimulating the natural thermo-regulating behaviour of reptiles.

Reptilien und Amphibien sind ektothermische oder kaltblütige Tiere. Ein ordentliches Heizsystem ist daher ein wichtiger Aspekt für ein natürliches Terrarium. Reptilien können ihre Körpertemperatur teilweise durch die Strahlungswärme der Sonne regulieren, die in Terrarien durch Lichtsysteme oder Heizstrahler Ceramic Heater erzeugt wird. In ihren natürlichen Biotopen benutzen Reptilien oft auch von der Sonne aufgeheizte Oberflächen, wie Zweige, Steine oder den Waldboden, als Wärmeleiter. Der Heat Wave Rock und die Heat Wave Substratheizung simulieren diese natürlichen Bedingungen, indem sie die Steine oder das Substrat im Terrarium heizen und damit das natürliche thermoregulierende Verhalten der Reptilien stimulieren.

Además del sistema de iluminación, también es necesario un sistema de calentamiento apropiado, un factor importante para los terrarios. En vista de que la iluminación genera una forma de calor radiante, algunos sistemas de calentamiento de Exo Terra dependen de la conducción y transferencia del calor. La conducción del calor es empleada por los reptiles durante su vida silvestre calentándose a través de superficies calientes como las rocas, la arena, la tierra o las ramas.

I rettili e gli anfibi sono eterotermici o a sangue freddo. Un sistema di riscaldamento adeguato è quindi un fattore molto importante della messa a punto naturale del terrario. I rettili in cattività possono regolare parzialmente la loro temperatura corporea con il calore radiante, fornito dal sistema di illuminazione o dalla lampada Ceramic Heater. Nel loro biotopo naturale i rettili usano spesso come calore-conduttore le superfici riscaldate dal sole, come i rami, le roccie o il suolo della foresta. La Heat Weave Rock ed i tappetini riscaldanti simulano queste circostanze naturali riscaldando la roccia o il substrato del terrario, stimolando il comportamento termoregolatore naturale dei rettili.

Reptielen en amfibieën zijn ectothermisch of koudbloedig. Een gepast verwarmingssysteem is aldus een heel voornaam element bij het opstarten van een natuurlijk terrarium. Reptielen kunnen hun lichaamstemperatuur gedeeltelijk regelen door de warmtestraling van de zon, in het terrarium geproduceerd door de verlichting of de ceramische warmtestraler (Ceramic Heater). In hun natuurlijk biotoop gebruiken reptielen dikwijls oppervlaktes die door de zon zijn opgewarmd, zoals takken, stenen of de bodemgrond als warmtebron. De Heat Wave Rock en Heat Wave substraatverwarmers leveren deze natuurlijke omstandigheden door de steen of het substraat in het terrarium te verwarmen en bevorderen alzo het natuurlijke warmteregelende gedrag bij reptielen.
