Globalizacja to tylko inne słowo na oznaczenie grożącego nam tryumfu amerykańskiej kultury: rozrywki, mody, amerykańskiego stylu życia. Wydaje się, że globalizacja będzie wkrótce pełna i Mcdonald’s będzie mógł wysyłać swoje reklamy do każdego człowieka, każdej kobiety, każdego konsumenta dokądkolwiek na świecie o dowolnej porze dnia.

C'est dans ce sens que les gouvernements occidentaux, les politiciens et les journalistes économiques ont tenté de nous persuader, au cours de la décennie écoulée, que nous pouvions décider au niveau national tout ce que nous voulions, mais qu'il n'y avait aucune alternative face au marché mondial, au marché commun européen ou à la mondialisation et qu'il ne nous restait qu'à nous soumettre si nous ne voulions pas que l'économie s'effondre. En même temps, nos gouvernements s'efforçaient de transformer le marché mondial ou le marché commun européen par des accords internationaux et des institutions de telle façon que toute possibilité d'alternatives se trouvait réduite.
