Рождение в жизнь, как таковое, не является основанием для награды или наказания. Награда или наказание должны быть справедливым актом за прежнее поведение. Природный закон абсолютно справедлив, и только из-за несовершенства человеческого правосудия требуется, чтобы в текущей жизни преступник знал и помнил, за что он наказан. В той жизни, когда человек совершил зло, он знал, что совершил преступление, природа же, в свою очередь, справедливо определила размер расплаты за его действия. Нам хорошо известно, что природа исполняет свое намерение, хотим мы этого или нет, помним мы об этом или забыли. Если в начале жизни ребенка няня нанесла ему травму, которая в дальнейшем привела к тому, что он стал калекой, то независимо от того, что ребенок не виноват в случившемся и ничего не помнит, он будет калекой. Но правильно понятый закон Перевоплощения, вместе с неотъемлемой от него доктриной Кармы, показывает абсолютную справедливость всего происходящего в природе.

At university I didn’t have to be as organized, it was more the idea of joining and linking up the thinking that I was able to do. I have a certain independence and independent thinking that helped me because you’re on your own a lot at university. The IB really set me up to get on with it, be pragmatic and be a doer.

Je pense tout de même que l’enseignant de TdC fait toute la différence. Mon enseignant, M. Wells, était un peu une légende dans notre établissement. C’était un enseignant anticonformiste doté d’un style remarquable. Il était vraiment drôle et savait captiver notre attention grâce à ses talents d’orateur. Nous adorions tous assister à ses cours. Il s’investissait dans la matière en tant qu’être humain et non seulement en tant qu’enseignant. Nous buvions ses paroles et étions complètement absorbés par ses cours. Par exemple, M. Wells nous disait qu’il avait travaillé sur une grande théorie pendant des années. Il nous exposait sa théorie, nous y réfléchissions et nous arrivions à la réfuter. Il était furieux contre nous.

Sentía que TdC realmente dependía de la persona que estaba impartiendo la clase. Mi instructor, el Sr. Wells, era algo así como una leyenda en nuestro colegio. Era un profesor poco convencional y tenía un estilo excelente, era muy divertido y tenía un gran diálogo con el grupo. A todos nos encantaban sus clases. Estaba comprometido con la asignatura como ser humano, no solo como profesor. Nos atraía la asignatura y estábamos completamente involucrados. Por ejemplo, nos contaba que había estado trabajando durante años en una gran teoría. Luego de contarnos su teoría, nosotros reflexionábamos sobre ella y la refutábamos y desacreditábamos, y entonces él fingía ponerse furioso.

Este es un relato del regreso de nuestro Señor a Su ciudad natal de Nazaret. Ha estado en Jerusalén y Judea, y en las ciudades alrededor del lago de Galilea, con su sede en Capernaúm. Ya ha ganado una reputación a lo largo de la tierra como un hacedor de buenas obras y un hacedor de milagros. Su fama le ha precedido a Su propia ciudad natal. Palabra ha llegado a Nazaret de las cosas extrañas que estaba haciendo este chico lugareño. Habían oído mucho sobre Sus increíbles milagros. Ahora ha vuelto a casa y todos saben que estará en la sinagoga en el sábado. Todo el pueblo ha venido para oírle y están ansiosamente esperando que haga entre ellos algunos milagros de los que ha hecho en las otras ciudades. En la sinagoga pide el libro de Isaías, busca deliberadamente el pasaje en el capítulo 61 prediciendo los milagros del Mesías, lo lee, cierra el libro, y les dice: “Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura delante de vosotros”. La gente del lugar estaba espantada. Se dijeron a sí mismos: “¿Qué significa esto? Todavía no ha hecho nada. ¿Qué quiere decir con que hoy se ha cumplido esto? ¿Dónde están los milagros?”.
