Аннотация. Методом рамановской спектроскопии проведено изучение циркона из гранофировых норитов массива Ярва-варака Мончегорского рудного района (Кольский полуостров). Геологические и геохимические данные, полученные для массива Ярва-варака, показывают его сходство со структурой Садбери, для которой установлено импактное происхождение. Изучение именно циркона обусловлено тем, что циркон может сохранять признаки ударного метаморфизма, даже пройдя в дальнейшем условия гранулитовой фации, что позволяет использовать его для идентификации древних импактных структур. Изображение циркона в обратно рассеянных электронах выявило сложное строение зерен с темными ядерными доменами и светлой широкой каймой без четко выраженной структуры. Включения силлиманита и плагиоклаза означают, что изученный циркон был захвачен из вмещающих глиноземных гнейсов. Кристаллы циркона показывают изменение рамановских спектров от ядерных частей зерен, которые сохраняют типичный для циркона набор пиков, до полного отсутствия спектральных полос в периферических частях и каймах. Минеральные включения в каймах циркона также демонстрируют отсутствие рамановских пиков. Такие вариации спектров могут быть связаны с преобразованием кристаллического циркона (и минеральных включений в нем) в диаплектовые стекла вследствие ударного метаморфизма; внутренние части циркона экранировались каймами и сохранили свою структуру. Полученные данные позволяют предполагать участие метеоритного импакта в образовании массива Ярва-варака, что требует дальнейшего изучения.

Binnen een paar jaar komt er naar verwachting een bloedtest op de markt voor de relatief zeldzame ziekte 'variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob' (vCJD). De ziekte kan via bloed worden overgedragen en is dodelijk. Moeten bloeddonors verplicht op vCJD getest gaan worden? Een van de nadelen is dat een donor te horen kan krijgen dat hij mogelijk een fatale ziekte onder de leden heeft. De Gezondheidsraad publiceert vandaag een signalement over de voor- en nadelen van een eventuele verplichte vCJD-test voor bloeddonors. In het Verenigd Koninkrijk is er al veel discussie over zo’n test. Ook in Nederland moet men zich op de invoering beraden.

Diagnosing prion diseases (Creutzfeldt-Jakob, BSE, scrapie) is currently very difficult. Prions are naturally occurring proteins that are abnormally folded and it is very difficult to recognize them. However, an INSERM team from Montpellier has managed to produce a molecule called MR100 which accurately detects all human and animal infective prions.

Impfungen gegen Seuchen stellen in diesem Sinne eine Präventionsmaßnahme dar: Impfungen kosten zunächst einmal etwas, reduzieren damit aber die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines Schadenseintrittes. Zeigen Maßnahmen dieser Art Wirkung? Sind sie rentabel? Ist die kausale Wirkungsrichtung die, die a-priori vermutet wird?
