“No excessive tyre wear was recorded after the race as both the asymmetric rear slick options we provided had much harder rubber on the left shoulder, which is put under the greater loads. Also, the Phillip Island circuit has a flowing layout and though turns eleven and twelve produce very high track temperatures, overall there aren’t many hard acceleration zones which create elevated levels of abrasion.

Viele Fahrer bewerteten die härtere Option Slicks im Training, Qualifying und Warm-up, aber als die Strecken-Temperaturen für das Rennen weiterhin kühl waren, entschied sich keiner der Fahrer für den harten Vorderreifen und nur ein Fahrer wählte den härteren Hinterreifen.

Con temperaturas relativamente frías y lluvias intermitentes, los pilotos se encontraron tanto el viernes como el sábado con una pista en unas condiciones difíciles de juzgar, y posteriormente, en la carrera, con unas condiciones más suaves, con temperaturas en la pista cercanas a los 30°C. La parrilla al completo pudo correr con el neumático más blando que Bridgestone ofreció ese fin de semana, con la excepción de un piloto que optó por un neumático trasero duro.
