La fontana costituisce la mostra dell’Acqua Felice, l’acquedotto che Sisto V volle condurre, riutilizzando in parte l’antica Aqua Alexandrina, per rifornire d’acqua i colli del Quirinale, del Viminale e dell’Esquilino, dove peraltro sorgeva anche la sua grande villa suburbana. Dentro la nicchia dell’arcata centrale è alloggiata la grande statua del Mosè che dà il nome alla fontana, opera di Leonardo Sormani e Prospero Antichi assai poco apprezzata fin dalla sua prima apparizione. I bassorilievi delle nicchie laterali, entrambi di soggetto biblico, sono di Flaminio Vacca quello di destra, e di Giovanni Battista della Porta quello di sinistra. Un attico di dimensioni inconsuete ospita la lunga epigrafe celebrativa dell’opera, sormontato a sua volta da uno stemma pontificio con ai lati due Fame, anch’esse di F. Vacca e G. B. della Porta. I quattro leoni in basso sono copie di originali egizi conservati nei musei vaticani.

VII դարում հռչակված Պարույրի /սկյութական Պարտատունի/ թագավորությունը, որին վիճակված չէր երկար ժամանակ գոյություն ունենալ: Երկիրը մեկ թագավորության ներքո միավորվում է միայն Երվանդունիների արքայատոհմի օրոք` ի դեմս Արամանի թագավորի, որին հայոց պատմահայր Մովսես Խորենացին սխալմամբ անվանում է Արամ: Օգտվելով Ասորեստանյան տերության հետ Քաղդեական Բաբելոնի եւ Մարաստանի պայքարի արդյունքում առաջացած քաղաքական դատարկությունից` հայկական թագավորը ընդլայնում է իր պետության սահմանները: Հայկական Երվանդունի թագավորները շարունակում են իշխել Հայաստանում` երբեմն զուգորդելով նաեւ պարսից սատրապի պաշտոնը, կամ գտնվելով նրա իշխանության ներքո: Գավգամելայի ճակատամարտում Ալեքսանդր Մակեդոնացու կողմից Աքեմենյան տերության պարտությունից հետո, Հայաստանը վերականգնում է իր անկախությունը (մայրաքաղաքը` Երվանդաշատ): Արմավիրում գտնված այդ շրջանի հունարեն արձանագրություներից մեկում գրված է. «Գեղեցիկ երկիր Արմենիա»: Սակայն, Ալեքսանդր Մակեդոնացու կայսրության ավերակներին կազմավորված Սելեւկյան պետությունը, կարճ ժամանակով իր տիրապետությունն է տարածում նաեւ Հայաստանի վրա:
