L’ouvrage contient la toute première reproduction intégrale d’une mythique œuvre de Ralph Rumney réalisée à Venise en 1957, qui devait être une contribution au premier numéro de la revue Internationale situationniste. Il s’agit d’un compte rendu des zones psycho-géographiques les plus passionnantes de Venise, à partir d’une trajectoire formée par la dérive d’un personnage se laissant guider par les courants des ambiances variées de son environnement. Pour différentes raisons, ce collage réalisé sous la forme d’un roman-photo en vogue a l’époque, n’a jamais été publié par les situationnistes et a disparu par la suite, dérobé à son auteur. Dans la préface à cette première édition, qui met fin à quarante-cinq années d’invisibilité, Ralph Rumney raconte avec distanciation et humour le destin tragique de cette œuvre, dont la publication demeura incertaine jusqu’à peu avant sa mort. Une empreinte de la main de Ralph Rumney est réalisée à la feuille d’or par l’artiste à Manosque pour les exemplaires de tête.

2015-06-30 - La mission de la Constellation RADARSAT (MCR) devra pouvoir compter sur des stations au sol assurant une vaste couverture au-dessus des zones maritimes canadiennes pour être en mesure de fournir les données dans les dix à trente minutes suivant leur acquisition. Le segment au sol de la MCR s'appuie sur l'infrastructure existante, et il exploite les stations nationales de Gatineau, de Prince Albert et d'Inuvik pour la réception des données et les activités de télémesure, de poursuite et de commande. The distance that comes about in this way extends to real spaces and subjects, but ones that cannot be identified in his camera’s focus, to zones of utopian potential on the edges of today’s civilised existence. Rivers plays with and simultaneously frees himself from the parameters of documentary and ethnographic films as well as from dubious notions of veracity. Narrative traces are equally recognisable in »The Coming Race«, but lose themselves in endlessly looping imagery beyond a linear time-progression.

Rivers arbeitet unabhängig, filmt und produziert seine Filme selbst. Wie »The Coming Race« meist auf 16mm gedreht mit einer Bolex, die maximal 30 Sekunden lange Einstellungen ermöglicht, und von Hand entwickelt, erwecken sie oft den Anschein gealterten Archivmaterials. Die so entstehende Distanz erstreckt sich auf reale, aber nicht identifizierbare Räume und Subjekte im Fokus seiner Kamera, auf Zonen utopischen Potentials am Rande heutigen zivilisatorischen Lebens. Rivers spielt mit und löst sich zugleich von Parametern des dokumentarischen und ethnografischen Films wie von fragwürdigen Vorstellungen von Wahrheit. Ebenso sind narrative Spuren in »The Coming Race« erkennbar, verlieren sich aber in endlos loopbaren Bildern außerhalb linear fortschreitender Zeit.

The project ‘Undersky’ – drawn up by the young Spanish architects Jorge Sanfulgencio and Julio Romero, who work from their practice, Arrevol – has been awarded in the Public Art section of ‘Lost Spaces,’ an international ideas competition serving the Canadian city of Calgary. Organized by the Design Talks Institute, the competition called for ways of regenerating those seemingly residual spaces we find in public zones of all big cities.

La propuesta ‘Undersky’ —diseñada por los jóvenes arquitectos españoles Jorge Sanfulgencio y Julio Romero, fundadores de Arrevol— ha resultado premiada en la categoría de Arte Público de ‘Lost Spaces’, un concurso internacional de ideas para la ciudad canadiense de Calgary. Organizada por el Design Talks Institute, la convocatoria buscaba soluciones para regenerar aquellas zonas públicas aparentemente residuales que encontramos en todas las grandes ciudades. El proyecto premiado ‘Undersky’ invita a reimaginar los espacios perdidos bajo los puentes, mejorando su aspecto y la percepción que de ellos tienen los viandantes. La propuesta aprovecha estos lugares para recrear cielos nocturnos, con constelaciones dibujadas mediante luces LED, mientras cubre los suelos con vegetación uniforme. El diseño artístico revive estos espacios considerados como algo muerto.
