Obowiązuje tam zakaz zatrudniania osób spokrewnionych z wykładowcami aż do czwartego stopnia. ... Oczywiście zmiany nie dokonają się samoistnie, ale zapoczątkować je mogą następne wybory. ... Jednak nepotyzm - prawdopodobnie największe przekleństwo rumuńskich uniwersytetów - nie zniknie, jeśli [minister edukacji] Daniel Funeriu nie będzie całym sercem oddany zmianom."

Marilena Manea studied chemistry and physics at the Al.I. Cuza University in Iasi, Romania. After a one-year research stay at the University of Konstanz in the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry and Biopolymer Structure Analysis, she received her PhD in 2006 for her work on "design, structural and immuno-analytical properties of antigenic polypeptides comprising a ß-amyloid-plaque specific epitope" during which she also developed combined B- and T-cell epitope-peptide bioconjugates as new lead structures for vaccines against Alzheimer's disease.

Marilena Manea studierte Chemie und Physik an der „Al.I.Cuza“ Universität in Iasi, Rumänien. Nach einem einjährigen Forschungsaufenthalt an der Uni Konstanz im Laboratorium für Analytische Chemie und Biopolymerstrukturanalyse promovierte sie 2006 zum Thema „Design, structural and immuno-analytical properties of antigenic polypeptides comprising a ß-amyloid-plaque specific epitope” und entwickelte dabei unter anderem kombinierte B- und T-Zell-Epitop-Peptid-Biokonjugate als neue Leitstrukturen für Vakzine zur aktiven Immunisierung gegen Alzheimer. Nach mehreren Forschungsaufenthalten an der Ungarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften ist sie seit Juni 2008 Fellow des Zukunftskollegs und Nachwuchsgruppenleiterin am Fachbereich Chemie der Uni Konstanz. Momentan beschäftigt sie sich hauptsächlich mit zielgerichteter Krebschemotherapie (insbesondere rezeptorvermittelte Chemotherapie), mit peptidbasierten Wirkstoffen für die Immuntherapie sowie Proteinstrukturanalysen.

The conclusion is that there are four categories of universities: the one which are permanently involved (here we mention :The University of Architecture and Urbanism „Ion Mincu” from Bucharest, and then the technical universities from the four big cities of the country :Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara), the universities which are frequently involved (here we mention twelve universities, the main are those with a mixed structure – here are to be mentioned the University „Babes-Bolyai” from Cluj Napoca, University of Bucharest and University „Al.I.Cuza” from Iasi), then follow the universities which are sporadic involved (there are almost thirty universities, among which there are three private universities), and the last category is the category of universities which haven’t been involved into the processes of urban development.

Evident ca un spatiu relativ important este acordat modului de implicare a universitatilor în domeniul restructurarii urbane. Dupa ce se defineste acest proces foarte complex, care este strâns conectat cu destructurarea industriala si cu tertiarizarea se face o analiza atenta asupra modului în care universitatile s-au implicat în analiza urbana. Concluzia este ca exista patru categorii de universitati: cele care se implica permanent (remarcându-se Universitatea de Arhitectura si Urbanism „Ion Mincu” din Bucuresti, la care se adauga universitatile tehnice din cele patru orase mari ale tarii: Bucuresti, Iasi., Cluj-Napoca si Timisoara), cele care se implica frecvent (12 universitati, dominant cele cu o structura mixta – se impun Universditatea „Babes-Bolyai” din Cluj-Napoca, Universitatea din Bucuresti si Universitatea „Al.I.Cuza” din Iasi), cele care se implica sporadic (se disting circa 30 de universitati, între care apar si 3 particulare), precum si cele care nu au fost implicate în procesele de dezvoltare urbana.
