W nawiązaniu do zapowiedzi baskijskiej organizacji terrorystycznej ETA o zawieszeniu broni politolog Rogelio Alonso krytykuje w konserwatywnym dzienniku ABC zbyt ostrożne sprawozdanie brytyjskiej stacji radiowej BBC: "Być może odpowiedzialnych w tej publicznej rozgłośni zainteresują słowa Hanny Arendt, która powiedziała, że 'mówienie bez gniewu o obozach koncentracyjnych nie jest obiektywne, lecz je usprawiedliwia'. Określanie ETA mianem czegoś innego niż organizacji terrorystycznej i wstrzymywanie się od opatrzenia jej zapowiedzi komentarzem, który tłumaczyłby jej powiązania, naturę i strategię, urąga temu, co pojmujemy w demokratycznej Europie jako rzetelne i obiektywne informowanie [opinii publicznej] o zjawisku przemocy. Commenting on Basque underground organisation Eta's announcement of a ceasefire, political scientist Rogelio Alonso takes issue with the BBC's coverage of the affair: "Those responsible at the public institution may find the opinion of Hannah Arendt instructive, who said that 'to describe the concentration camps without anger was not to be objective, but to condone them'. To treat Eta like anything but a terrorist organisation, interpreting its messages without subjecting them to rigorous analysis and without explaining their context and their strategy is not objective or correct coverage of a phenomenon of political violence that is taking place in a democratic European society. For this reason probably the only Eta message that would deserve the kind of coverage this has received in recent days would be its unequivocal announcement that the terrorist organisation will disappear for good."

Suite à l'annonce par l'organisation clandestine basque ETA d'un cessez-le-feu, le politologue Rogelio Alonso critique dans le quotidien conservateur ABC le reportage timoré de la BBC britannique : "Peut-être que l'opinion de Hannah Arendt intéressera les responsables de la chaîne publique. Celle-ci expliquait 'qu'évoquer les camps de concentration sur un ton dépourvu de colère n'était pas objectif, mais contribuait à les justifier'. Ne pas qualifier l'ETA d'organisation terroriste et ne pas accompagner ses communiqués d'un reportage approprié, explicitant sa nature et sa stratégie dans son contexte, signifie ne pas effectuer un reportage correct et objectif sur ce phénomène violent dans une société européenne démocratique. Le seul communiqué de l'ETA qui mériterait l'attention publique de ces derniers jours, serait celui dans lequel l'organisation terroriste déclare véritablement et irrévocablement sa dissolution définitive."

Mit Blick auf die Ankündigung eines Waffenstillstands durch die baskische Untergrundorganisation Eta kritisiert der Politologe Rogelio Alonso in der konservativen Tageszeitung ABC die Berichterstattung der britischen Rundfunkanstalt BBC als zu zaghaft: "Vielleicht interessiert die Verantwortlichen der öffentlichen Anstalt die Meinung von Hannah Arendt, die sagte, dass 'über die Konzentrationslager ohne Wut zu berichten, nicht objektiv ist, sondern diese rechtfertigt'. Die Eta als etwas anderes zu bezeichnen als eine terroristische Organisation und ihre Kommuniqués nicht mit der entsprechenden Berichterstattung zu begleiten, die über ihren Zusammenhang, ihre Natur und ihre Strategie aufklärt, bedeutet keine korrekte und objektive Berichterstattung über dieses Phänomen der Gewalt in einer demokratischen Gesellschaft in Europa. Das einzige Eta-Kommuniqué, das so eine große Öffentlichkeit verdient hätte, wie die der vergangenen Tage, wäre eines, in dem die terroristische Organisation wahrhaftig und unwiderruflich ihre definitive Auflösung erklärt."
