From 1975 to 1977 he was working for the Groupe de Recherche Musicale (GRM INA). From 1977 to 1980 he was teaching musical improvisation at the Konservatorium Pantin, from 1980 to 82 medieval music at the Université de Toulouse le Mirail. From 1982 on he became part of the Direction de la Musique et de la Danse at the French ministry of culture, in 1984 he became general inspector for education and formation and in 1988 he founded a new department for contemporary music. 1990 he decided to concentrate on being composer and interpret. Temporarily he became artistic director of the electronic music studio "La Muse en Circuit" and regularly worked in Germany (Potsdam, Berlin, Cologne, and Frankfurt) and as a guest in symphony and radio orchestras. From 2000 to 2009 he was director of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique et de danse in Lyon. Next to his actual activities as composer and interpret, he is lecturing at the CNSMD in Paris. He is honorary member of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and bearer of the Ordres des Arts et Lettres, Chevalier du mérite and the Bundesverdienstkreuz.
