Capitala nordică a fost ultima destinației a caravanei auto ”PENTRU VIAȚĂ 2014”. În cele două zile de staționare în acest oraș membrii caravanei au reușit să facă multe lucruri bune și utile, care, sperăm, și-au lăsat amprenta în sufletul și inimile localnicilor și ale membrilor comunității PHS. Pe lângă treningurile organizate, acțiunile de informare, întrunirile cu membrii comunității și ajutorul oferit beneficiarilor aflați în dificultate, orașul Bălți a rămas în memorie prin ceremonia festivă deosebită de decernare a premiului ”Panglica Roșie”. După ceremonie echipa caravanei a mers la o cină de adio, în timpul căreia au fost trasate bilanțurile, au fost analizate plusurile și minusurile caravanei și, desigur, au fost rostite multe cuvinte calde, pline de recunoștință adresate participanților caravanei.

With all the background research done, a Parks Canada historian then asks the question:  what would visitors like to know about this historic site?  Not all visitors are the same.  People are curious about different aspects of Canadian history, and historians and interpreters try to capture the richness of the past, both in terms of chronology and themes.  Even if a national historic site is a fort associated with a great battle, there is always more to the location than its military history.  For example, one might consider how the people in the fort related to their Aboriginal neighbours or the role that technology played in the fort’s success.  One might describe the layout and architecture of the site in comparison to other forts in other times or places.  If sources are available, one might write a biography of one of the men or women who lived at the fort or delve into what the lives of children were like in that time.  Endless opportunities exist for the direction that one might take in historical interpretation at any national historic site in Canada.

Une fois la recherche préliminaire réalisée, les historiens de Parcs Canada se posent la question suivante : Qu’est-ce que les visiteurs aimeraient savoir au sujet de cet endroit? Comme les visiteurs n’ont pas tous les mêmes intérêts, leur curiosité est piquée par différents aspects de l’histoire du Canada, ce qui pousse les historiens et les interprètes à tenter de saisir toutes les  richesses du passé, que ce soit sur les plans chronologique ou thématique. Dans le cas d’un fort désigné lieu historique national en raison de son lien avec une bataille célèbre, par exemple, il y a toujours plus à raconter que son histoire militaire. On peut s’intéresser aux relations entre les occupants du fort et leurs voisins autochtones, ou au rôle de la technologie dans l’efficacité du fort. On peut aussi s’intéresser à l’architecture particulière d’un fort par comparaison à d’autres forts en des temps et des lieux différents. Si les sources d’information sont disponibles, l’historien peut rédiger la biographie d’un homme ou d’une femme ayant vécu au fort, ou chercher à dépeindre la vie des enfants de l’époque en question. L’interprétation historique peut embrasser une infinité de points de vue dans tous les lieux historiques nationaux du Canada.

Thomas: Ich habe einiges gemacht: Lange Zeit wandte ich mich Synthesizern und Samplern zu, da ich von der Technik und der Klangvielfalt fasziniert war. Dann brachte ich mir selber Gitarre bei, und entdeckte den Spass am Singen. So sang ich eine lange Zeit in Gospel- und A-Capella-Chören mit. Das Akkordeon blieb aber immer mein Begleiter, ich spielte im Duo oder jamte in verschiedenen Bands. Spielst du auch noch weitere Instrumente? Frank: Ja, andere Perkussionsinstrumente. Nach dem Unterricht bei dem Griot besuchte ich mehr als zehn Jahre die Wiesbadener Musik- und Kunstschule, wo ich weitere Trommeln und ganz unterschiedliche Stile lernen konnte. In den acht Jahren, seit denen ich in der Schweiz lebe, spiele ich aber weniger Handtrommeln sondern mehr Hang. Und zwar, weil ich in meiner Wohnung unmöglich auf lauten Perkussionsinstrumenten üben kann. Thomas: Die Hang ist ein sehr spezielles Instrument. Wie kamst du dazu?

Als Heroes of Feedback kämpfen in meinem gleichnamigen Stück (2012) zwei Musiker gegen die Bedrohung der Welt durch immer lauter pfeifende Lautsprecher. Computer und Performer reagieren live aufeinander, die Spielregeln ändern sich ständig, ebenso die entstehende Musik – und die Musiker stehen unter Strom.
