It is the only natural area in Catalonia that holds the category of national park and its surface is divided into four regions: Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, Alta Ribagorça and Aran Valley. The park contains two distinct areas: the western area, Aigüestortes, accessible from the Boi Valley, and eastern side, Sant Maurici Lake and the Encantants, accessible from Espot.

Le Parc National d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici fut fondé en 1955. C’est le seul et unique espace naturel de Catalogne qui appartient à la catégorie de Parc National, et il s’étend sur quatre comarques : le Pallars Jussà, le Pallars Sobirà, l’Alta Ribagorça et la Vall d’Aran. Le parc est composé de deux espaces bien différenciés : la zone occidentale, Aigüestortes, accessible depuis la Vall de Boí, et l’orientale, l’Estany de Sant Maurici et Els Encantats, accessible depuis Espot.

Der Nationalpark Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici wurde im Jahr 1955 gegründet. Er ist der einzige Naturraum in Katalonien in der Kategorie „Nationalpark" und seine Fläche ist in Landkreise verteilt: El Pallars Jussà, El Pallars Sobirà, L'Alta Ribagorça und La Vall d'Aran. Der Park enthält zwei unterschiedliche Gebiete: die westliche Zone, Aigüestortes, erreichbar vom Vall de Boí aus und die östliche, der Estany de Sant Maurici und Els Encantats mit Zugang von Espot aus.
