Die mit dem Erweiterungsbeitrag finanzierten Busse seien deshalb sehr willkommen und hätten der Schweiz viel Aufmerksamkeit gebracht: Auf den Bussen sei das Schweizer Logo angebracht, in Zeitungs-, Radio- und Fernsehbeiträgen sei über das Projekt berichtet worden.

In Workshop 1, for instance, the Head of the National Coordination Unit (NCU) in Latvia, Diāna Atkauķe, stated that the project for new school busses had come at just the right time. “The education system in our country recently underwent a reform; a lot of schools were closed”, she said. She went on saying that many children suddenly had considerably longer distances to travel to get to school without an adequate transportation system to rely on. This was the reason why the busses financed by the Enlargement Contribution were highly appreciated and drew much attention to Switzerland. In fact, the Swiss logo was placed on the busses, and reports had appeared on the project in the newspapers, on radio and on television. To top off her remarks, she added that 39 busses had already been delivered, and that by the end of the year, the number of busses would reach 110.

Dans l’atelier n°1, Diāna Atkauke, responsable du service national de coordination (SNC) en Lettonie, a expliqué que le projet de nouveaux bus scolaires est arrivé à point nommé: «Suite à la réforme du système scolaire, de nombreuses écoles ont été fermées dans notre pays.» Du coup, le chemin de l’école s’est allongé pour de nombreux enfants, alors qu’il n’existait pas de système de transport scolaire. Dès lors, les bus financés par la contribution à l’élargissement sont arrivés à point nommé et ont contribué à soigner l’image de la Suisse. Le symbole de la Suisse figure sur les bus, il y a eu de nombreux comptes rendus dans les journaux, à la radio et à la télévision. Trente-neuf bus ont déjà été livrés; ils seront au nombre de 110 d’ici la fin de l’année.

Durante il primo workshop, ad esempio, Diāna Atkauķe, responsabile dell’Unità di coordinamento nazionale (NCU) della Lettonia, ha espresso la sua soddisfazione per il fatto che i nuovi bus scolastici siano arrivati proprio al momento giusto: «Nel nostro Paese una recente riforma del sistema educativo ha comportato la chiusura di numerose scuole». Di colpo, molti bambini avrebbero dovuto affrontare un tragitto scolastico nettamente più lungo, senza tuttavia poter beneficiare di un qualsivoglia sistema di trasporto. I bus finanziati mediante il contributo all’allargamento sonno stati accolti con grande entusiasmo e hanno giovato all’immagine della Svizzera in Lettonia: su di essi, infatti, è dipinto lo stemma svizzero e i giornali, la radio e alcuni servizi televisivi hanno riferito del progetto. Finora sono già stati consegnati 39 bus ed entro fine anno ne seguiranno altri 71.
