The Upper Matsiatra region is located in the south of Madagascar, and named as the river Matsiatra, which crosses the region. This region has a large area of savannah and the Anja forest, a natural site where we find an exceptional flora and fauna. As a tropical climate, it is considered to be one of the coldest regions in the country. Despite the bad conditions of the roads, the region of Upper Matsiatra is popular with tourists for its historic sites such as the rock of Ifanadiana, the royal tomb of Rarivoarindrano or the mountain of Ambondrombe, but also for Fianarantsoa, a small town registered at Unesco World Heritage.
