  Thorichthys helleri - ...
Thorichthys helleri is associated with numerous groups of fish species. Cichlids include members of the genera; Thorichthyts (meeki, pasionis), Amphilophus (nourissati, robertsoni), Chuco intermedium, “Cichlasoma” (octofasciatus, salvini, urophthalmus), Parachromis friedrichsthalii, Paraneetroplus gibbiceps, Petenia splendida, Theraps (irregulare, lentiginosus), Vieja (argentea, bifasciata, heterospila, pearsei, ufermanni and probably V. regani).

Water quality is of high importance, high oxygenation and frequent water changes are necessary for the well-being of this species. Water current in the tank is highly appreciate it by the fish. The temperature and water chemistry are best to be provided in accordance to natural parameters (pH 7.8, rather soft water and °C.), although there are no records I am aware of this species being kept under different conditions.

  Hoplarchus psittacus -...
Siedlisko: Znajdowany w rzekach toczących czarne wody, zalewiskach i jeziorach. Temperatura wody 27-30 st. C.
Habitat: Found in blackwater rivers, swamps and lakes. Blackwater specialist: moderately acidic (pH 5.5-6) and low dissolved minerals. Water temperature 27-30 C (81 - 86 F). Often amongst submerged wood.

180cm długości i pojemności ok. 470 litrów, w towarzystwie innych ryb, to lepszy wybór. Doskonale radzą sobie w średnich parametrach chemicznych wody (pH 7, średnia twardość), jednak aby doprowadzić do tarła niezbędna będzie miękka i kwaśna woda.
Aquaristics: Since the maximum recorded total length of wild specimens is 35 cm (c. 14 inches), these fish need a large tank. A pair will do well in a 1.20 m x 45 cm (4 foot X 18 inch) 300 liters (c. 80 gallon), but better housed in 470 liters (125 gallon) 1.8 m (6 foot) tank or bigger, with other fish. Parrot cichlids will do fine at moderate water chemistries (pH 7, moderate hardness) but require soft acidic water to spawn. Food includes all pelleted and stick prepared foods, freeze-dried and frozen krill, earthworms etc. Do well as groups in large tanks with other moderately aggressive cichlids.

Habitat: Chortiheros wesseli was initially captured at the Belleaire River crossing opposite Entelina at the second bridge overpass east of Jutiapa. This river, a tributary to the Rio Jutiapa, had a maximum width of 20 m and was flowing at 1 m/sec over a bottom of boulders (45%), rocky rubble (25%), riffle and sand (25%), and silt (5%). The water clarity during the dry season (January to June) is referred to as spectacular. River depth was about 2.4-3.0 m and there was little marginal vegetation, with some algae on the rocks. Water pH is around 7.8, soft and with a temperature was 24.5-25 °C. No trees grew along the banks where the fish were collected, although they are lined with lush green vegetation. The new species prefers areas with boulders, rocks and the fastest flow. Even in natural habitat this fish is rare, Rusty Wessel gave a rough estimate of one C. wesseli per one thousand other fish (Compiled from Miller, 1996:183; Wessel, 1998).
