Aber auch die Untersuchung der paläoklimatischen Entwicklung sowie deren auslösender Faktoren und Auswirkungen während der gesamten Erdgeschichte, vom Archäikum bis in das Holozän, während derer teilweise drastische Klimaänderungen erfolgten (z.B. die "Snowball Earth" Phasen, Auswirkungen von Impakten und Supervulkanen, die Warmphasen während der Kreide oder des Eozäns, usw.), sind wichtige Forschungsthemen der Zukunft. Zuständigkeit: u.a. Kommission für Quartärforschung und Kommission für die paläontologische und stratigraphische Erforschung Österreichs.

Die Bearbeitung ist daher oft sehr aufwendig und eine besondere Herausforderung für die Winzer, um Weine höchster Qualität zu erzeugen. Folgende Sorten werden in Joiser Rieden angebaut: Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Neuburger und Traminer, Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir, Merlot und Cabernet Sauvignon.

西部北太平洋はアジア大陸の砂漠や黄河起源のエアロゾル供給量が多い海域です（Jickells et al., Science 307, 2005）。代表的なエアロゾルである黄砂の研究はこれまでも多くの研究が実施されてきました（例えば岩坂他編「黄砂」、古今書、2009）。しかし黄砂他自然発生したエアロゾルが西部北太平洋の生物ポンプにどのように影響しているのか？という観点の研究例は極めて少ないです。現在、地球温暖化に伴い乾燥地帯／湿地地帯の地理分布変化、気象変化、そして人類活動による土地利用変化が報告されており、今後はアジア大陸からのエアロゾルの西部北太平洋への輸送量、輸送範囲が大きく変化することも考えられます。そのため生物ポンプにおけるエアロゾルの役割を明確にしておくことが急務でです。また近年では東アジア都市部から発生する産業起源エアロゾル（硫酸塩、硝酸塩、黒色炭素等）の越境汚染が報告されています（Kanaya et al., Jpn. J. Atmos. Environ. in press）。これらが海洋へ供給された場合の生物ポンプへの影響も考慮すべき時期となっています。

Luk Segers: « Nous voulions créer un volume imposant qui contraste avec le centre culturel Den Egger qui occupe une position privilégiée et avec la piscine de natation qui est juchée sur le talus. C’est pour ces raisons que nous avons recherché une brique de parement qui souligne fortement le côté massif du de l’édifice. La brique de parement Veneto rouge-brune foncée des Briqueteries Nelissen convient parfaitement pour cela. De plus, les briques de parement devaient être collées afin de créer un joint aussi petit que possible.

Die Farbvariationen reichen von orange-roten Tönen bis zu einem Lila-rot, das von grau-blauen Nuancen durchzogen ist. Die Steine werden aus Limburger Löss hergestellt, der im Plateau von Kesselt im Meuse-Tal gewonnen und mit Rohstoffen aus der Vulkaneifel veredelt wird. Luk Segers sagt: "Wir wollten ein eindrucksvolles Gebäude schaffen, das im Kontrast zu der wichtigen Rolle von 'Den Egger' und dem Hang steht, an dem das Schwimmbad gelegen ist. Daher waren wir auf der Suche nach einem Verblender, der das solide Erscheinungsbild des Gebäudes in besonderer Weise unterstreicht. Der dunkle, rot-braune "Veneto" der Ziegelei Nelissen eignet sich hervorragend für diesen Zweck. Darüber hinaus brauchten wir einen Verblender, bei dem es möglich war, so dünne Fugen wie möglich zu erzeugen."
