Ο ρόλος των δικαστηρίων δεν εκτείνεται στην ακύρωση των νόμων και οι περισσότεροι νομοθέτες δεν έχουν ενδιαφερθεί για το δημόσιο συμφέρον στη σύγκρουση ανάμεσα στις πατέντες και στα πρότυπα.
