La evolución histórica de la ciudad ha provocado transformaciones sucesivas de la trama urbana, algunas de las cuales han generado fracturas en el tejido urbano construido. Para resolver estas discontinuidades, el Institut del Paisatge Urbà del Ajuntament de Barcelona promueve acciones de sutura urbana a través del programa de remodelación de paredes medianeras.
