A theatre director, a founder and artistic director of Via Negativa (since 2002). A graduate and then lecturer (until 1999) of the Academy of Theatre in Ljubljana. In years 1993-1999, he directed for most of the Slovenian theatres. In 1999, he stopped working with repertory theatre and focused on research on theatricality. Jablanoveć is interested in theatre as a communication medium more than in its aesthetics. He uses reduction as a method, pursues the issue of relations between a performer and a viewer, looking at it through the prism of a category of “truth”. In his research he is focused on the costruction of a process which enables a performer to enter the stage with his own message, extract the meaning from the body and present his own authorial performance. In 2012, he founded VN LAB, a laboratory of contemporary performative arts open for the practitioners of performative arts who wish to develop their own process of creation and stage strategies.
