The test is simple and a session of spirometry does not require more than 10-15 minutes. The investigation takes place as follows: the patient sits on a chair and, after the doctor catches his nose with a nasal clip, asks him to breathe only through a flexible tube connected to the spirometer. The patient breathes, first of all, as usually, after that he will inhale and exhale until the last breath, slower, faster, deeper, stronger, etc. The information will be recorded by the device and will be generated graphically and numerically on a computer screen. Thus, the amount of air contained in the lungs at different times of breathing, and minimum and maximum amount of inhaled and exhaled air per second will be known. Spirometry results are obtained immediately and are usually expressed as a rate of ideal values of lung function according to gender, age, height and weight.
