Satellite radio navigation is an advanced technology. It is based on the emission from satellites of signals indicating the time extremely precisely. This enables any individual to determine his or her position or the location of any moving or stationary object (e.g. a vehicle, a ship, or a herd of cattle, etc.) to within one metre thanks to a small cheap individual receiver.

[199 KB] regarding in vitro diagnostic medical devices. They aim at ensuring a high level of protection of human health and safety and the good functioning of the Single Market. These 3 main directives have been supplemented over time by several modifying and implementing directives, including the last technical revision brought about by Directive 2007/47/EC

This measure has been of significant practical benefit to firms operating within the Internal Market because it ensures that they have only to deal with a single, simplified set of rules on invoicing valid throughout the EU instead of different sets of national legislation. At the same time, the Directive requires Member States to recognise the validity of electronic invoices and allow cross-border electronic invoicing and electronic storage. The result is a significant reduction of firms' administrative costs, in particular for medium-sized and small firms and an important boost to electronic commerce, which was hampered by obsolete invoicing rules. The simplified rules also aim to facilitate tax authorities' efforts to fight fraud.

Two out of three people on income support in France said they were looking for work when asked in a survey in 2010. Many were long-term unemployed and this, combined with the fact that they were claiming benefits, made them less likely to be taken seriously by potential employers.

Since many of the participants in the successful three-year project have gone on to get jobs, the organisers are hoping to spread the concept to other Swedish regions.

Participants are offered the opportunity to acquire a variety of skills depending on their wishes and what they are good at – anything is possible from getting a taxi licence to starting a new business. One example is a former navy officer who retrained in computer-aided design programming. Since many of the participants in the successful three-year project have gone on to get jobs, the organisers are hoping to spread the concept to other Swedish regions.

A creative workshop for women, a silk-screen printing course for young drug addicts, a drama club for young people, and language training for immigrant women: these are just some of the 98 projects for disadvantaged groups in Leipzig. Starting in 2009, as part of the Federal ‘Strength on the Ground’ programme, the Leipzig authorities devoted EUR 645 000 to small local projects in deprived neighbourhoods across the city. "The funding has enabled the promoters to try new ideas and concepts," said Mayor Thomas Fabian, who explained that this financing is additional to ongoing support for the disadvantaged, and that many of these projects will be extended. Young people from difficult backgrounds are a priority target of the funding, as are women wanting to get back into work.

In Liverpool employers are set to be offered a subsidy to fund the first six months' salary for teenage apprentices. The aim is to help up to 500 or more teenagers classed as NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training) to take their first steps into the jobs market – particularly those who lack relevant qualifications or are struggling to find work. City councilor Nick Small said, “This project is aimed at giving opportunities to those young people who haven’t been able to get the skills and experience to be in with a chance of competing for a job. We have to encourage employers to look beyond this and harness the raw potential that exists among many of our teenagers”. The scheme will receive GBP 300 000 (EUR 340 000) from the ESF and businesses must commit to providing long-term apprenticeships and real career opportunities.

We have to encourage employers to look beyond this and harness the raw potential that exists among many of our teenagers”. The scheme will receive GBP 300 000 (EUR 340 000) from the ESF and businesses must commit to providing long-term apprenticeships and real career opportunities.

In the Heilbronn-Franken region, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is implementing its ‘Tailored mediation’ ESF project to offer fresh job opportunities to disadvantaged young people. Participants, who may have poor school records or come from immigrant backgrounds, can find it difficult to obtain vocational training contracts that can lead to careers. By providing guidance during the later school years, agreeing realistic expectations with the young people, and helping them prepare their applications; the project is supporting their efforts to find the jobs they can fit into. Of the initial 55 participants at the start of 2012, 11 have already taken up training in companies. “To many young people, the prospect of a proper training course gives them just the motivational kick they need,” explains training manager Renate Raven.
