Mme Deborah Chatsis (B.Sc. [génie mécanique], Université de la Saskatchewan, 1983; LL.B., Université de la Saskatchewan, 1986; LL.M. [droit international], Université d’Ottawa, 1998; M.A.P., Université Harvard, 2007) a travaillé comme clerc à la Section d’appel de la Cour fédérale du Canada avant d’entrer au ministère des Affaires extérieures et du Commerce extérieur en 1989.

Deborah Chatsis (BSc [Mechanical Engineering], University of Saskatchewan, 1983; LLB, University of Saskatchewan, 1986; LLM [International Law], University of Ottawa, 1998; MPA, Harvard University, 2007) worked as a law clerk with the Appeal Division of the Federal Court of Canada before joining the Department of External Affairs and International Trade in 1989. Since then she has served in Beijing, Bogotá, Miami, Geneva and New York City. At Headquarters she has served with the Legal Operations and Human Rights divisions. She has also served on secondment to Indian Affairs and Northern Affairs Canada as senior adviser, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, and the Privy Council Office as senior adviser, Social Policy Development Secretariat. She currently serves as executive assistant to the deputy minister of foreign affairs. Ms. Chatsis succeeds Deanna Horton.
