La cheffe de la diplomatie suisse s’est déclarée très satisfaite du résultat de la Conférence de haut niveau d’Interlaken sur l’avenir de la Cour européenne des droits de l’homme qui a constitué le point culminant de la présidence suisse.

Before handing over the chairmanship, Ms Calmy-Rey presented the report of the Swiss chairmanship on the activities that she has overseen between 18 November 2009 and 11 May 2010. The Head of Switzerland’s Department of Foreign Affairs declared herself very satisfied with the result of the high-level conference in Interlaken on the future of the European Court of Human Rights, which constituted the highlight of the Swiss chairmanship. “With the Interlaken Declaration and the action plan, we have laid some important milestones in assuring the process of reform at the Court. A smoothly functioning Court is important for the protection of human rights in Europe”, she stated.

Vor der Übergabe erstattete Bundesrätin Calmy-Rey Bericht über die Tätigkeit des Schweizer Vorsitzes, der vom 18. November 2009 bis zum 11. Mai 2010 dauerte. Die Chefin der Schweizer Diplomatie äusserte sich sehr zufrieden über das Ergebnis der hochrangigen Konferenz in Interlaken zur Zukunft des Europäischen Gerichtshofs für Menschenrechte, die den Höhepunkt des Schweizer Vorsitzes bildete. «Mit der Erklärung von Interlaken und dem Aktionsplan haben wir wichtige Weichen für die Reform des Gerichtshofs gestellt. Für den Schutz der Menschenrechte auf dem europäischen Kontinent ist es wesentlich, dass der Gerichtshof reibungslos funktioniert», erklärte sie.

Prima di cedere il testimone, Micheline Calmy-Rey ha presentato il rapporto della presidenza svizzera sulle attività condotte tra il 18 novembre 2009 e l’11 maggio 2010. La responsabile della diplomazia svizzera si è detta molto soddisfatta dei risultati della Conferenza di alto livello di Interlaken sul futuro della Corte europea dei diritti dell’uomo, punto culminante della presidenza svizzera. «Con la Dichiarazione e il Piano d’azione di Interlaken, abbiamo gettato fondamenta importanti per consolidare il processo di riforma della Corte. Il buon funzionamento della Corte è importante per la salvaguardia dei diritti dell’uomo sul continente europeo», ha dichiarato.
