A product of the partnership between the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC), Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), and Statistics Canada the HRM is an extension of the TSA and National Tourism Indicators (NTI). While the TSA and NTI analyze jobs directly attributable to visitor spending, the HRM looks at the total number of jobs in the tourism sector. The report presents detailed employment data by tourism industry group, or occupation, for the period from 1997 to 2009. This marks a significant change in the time lag of previous years’ reports. In 2009, the report included data up to 2007 while the report for 2010 has improved its timeliness by a full twelve months.
