A Comisión de Faros por acordo unánime do 25 de maio do 1843, decide construír os dous primeiros Faros de primeira orde con carácter estable; xunto o Machichaco foi elixido o de Fisterra por ser o primeiro punto donde recalan as embarcacións que dende o Atlántico viñan aos portos do Norte da península.
The Lighthouse Commision agreed on the 25th May 1843 to build the first two stable Lighthouses; next to the Machichaco´s one, the decided to build Finisterre´s lighthouse because it is the first port where ships from the Atlantic, which headed to the Northern ports of the Peninsula, arrived.

José Ibáñez, son of the founder of SARGADELOS, took over control of the company after his father’s death. With the help of his maternal uncles and his wife, Anita Varela, he extended the original factory, installing three production kilns, two smaller kilns for test pieces, and a series of workshops with more than 25 potter’s wheels.The factory produced up to 20,000 pieces of chinaware a year in the early 1830’s.
