One of the Officers, currently provided a monthly parking pass, seldom uses it and, instead, relies on public transportation to travel to and from work.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) administers the Foreign Service Directives (FSD) for over 1,800 employees and dependents who work in Canada’s missions abroad. These include DFAIT employees as well as employees from other government departments that have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for DFAIT to administer the FSDs on their behalf. FSD expenditures during the 2009-2010 fiscal year represented $131.7 million.

2.2.12 Une indemnité de voyage visée par les dispositions de la DSE 50 a été prélevée sur le compte bancaire en dollars canadiens de la mission et versée en dollars US au compte de l'employé au Canada, les coûts du transfert de fonds et de l'achat de devises étrangères étant couverts par le budget de la mission, au lieu que ce transfert et cet achat soient traités sans frais par l'AC.
2.2.12 A travel allowance under the provisions of FSD 50 was paid out of the Mission Canadian dollar bank account in US funds to the account of the employee in Canada, with the costs of the transfer of funds and the cost of purchasing the foreign currency being met from the Mission budget rather than being arranged at no cost through Headquarters.
