The image has a special significance for Klaus Merz and his work. His engagement with fine art is multifaceted and goes back a long time. As a writer, he has written about Heiner Kielholz, Franz Fedier, many others, as well as about Hans Josephsohn – for example, in the Feuilleton section of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Works by Heinz Frey, Ilse Weber, or Heinz Egger have accompanied his literary work. He has collaborated as an author with Beat Zoderer, Uwe Wittwer, Niklaus Lenherr, and recently Roman Signer. ––

Neben der Arbeit von Heinz Egger, der nicht nur beinahe sämtliche Umschläge der Bücher von Klaus Merz gestaltet hat, war auch Josephsohn mit in dieser Auswahl dabei - eine Liegende und zwei Reliefs vertraten paradigmatisch dessen Oeuvre im Kontext dieser Ausstellung.

In the exhibition in the Strauhof, Peter Erismann documented these connections in close cooperation with Klaus Merz – the universe of images that surrounds the author was presented on the basis of selected artist positions. In addition to the work of Heinz Egger, who has designed not only almost all of the covers for the books of Klaus Merz, Josephsohn was also part of this selection – one reclining figure and two reliefs paradigmatically represented his oeuvre within the context of this exhibition.
