Prof. Pascale Fournier's project, "The Get, the Talaq, and Other Subversive Moments: Jewish and Muslim Women Negotiating Divorce in Canada" has received $5000 from the FLR. This project will study the migration of minority religious laws and the effects of such migration on Jewish and Muslim women in Canada.

La professeure Pascale Fournier bénéficiera d'une somme de 5 000 $ pour « La migration des lois religieuses minoritaires vers les tribunaux séculiers occidentaux : le Judaïsme, l'Islam et le divorce au féminin». Dans ce projet, la professeure Fournier analyse la migration des lois religieuses minoritaires vers les tribunaux séculiers occidentaux par le biais de deux formes particulières de divorce religieux: le Get juif et le Talaq islamique. Elle s'intéressera plus particulièrement à l'effet de cette migration sur les femmes juives et musulmanes ayant été en instance de divorce au Canada. L'enveloppe de la Fondation lui permettra de réaliser des entrevues avec dix femmes juives et musulmanes à Ottawa, Toronto et Montréal.

This project is part of Prof. Pavlovic's larger ongoing work on consumers' access to justice in the globalized economy which aims to look at different categories of consumer relationships and related dispute resolution mechanisms with an aim of constructing a theory of consumers' access to justice. The FLR grant provides funds for a research assistant for the summer of 2009 to provide legal research for the project and legal editing of the resulting article.

La professeure Marina Pavlovic a obtenu près de 5 000 $ pour sa recherche intitulée "Forum Selection Clauses in Standard Form Contracts and Consumers' Access to Justice". Ce projet fait partie d'une large étude sur l'accès à la justice des consommateurs dans une économie mondialisée. La professeure Pavlovic étudie les différents types de contrats avec les consommateurs et les mécanismes de règlements des différends qui y sont liés tout en cherchant à construire un cadre théorique facilitant l'accès à la justice des consommateurs. L'octroi de la Fondation fournira le financement pour l'embauche d'un assistant de recherche pendant l'été 2009 qui contribuera au projet et aidera à la révision de l'article final.
