Saileko kide askok larogei eta larogeitamar hamarkadetan industriarekin elkarlanean hainbat proiektu eta ikerketa egin zuten, eta haien ondorioz Material Polimerikoen Institutua (POLYMAT) jaio zen. Gaur egun, POLYMAT izenaren azpian aipatutako Institutua eta Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering delakoa daude.

Since its constitution, the Polymer Science and Technology Department is a reference in the research of polymeric materials. Many of the Departmental members were involved during the eighties and nineties in a series of activities in collaboration with industry that crystallized in the Institute of Polymeric Materials (POLYMAT). Currently, both the aforementioned Institute and the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering are grouped together under the trademark Polymat.

Desde su constitución, el Departamento de Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros es una referencia en la investigación de los omnipresentes materiales poliméricos. Muchos de los miembros del Departamento se implicaron a la largo de los años ochenta y noventa en una serie de actividades en colaboración con la industria que cristalizaron en el Instituto de Materiales Poliméricos (POLYMAT). Hoy en día, bajo la marca POLYMAT se agrupan tanto el mencionado Instituto como el Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering.
