The study points to a promising outlook for falling levels of environmental and noise pollution as the percentage of electric vehicles rises. According to the WHO, atmospheric contamination is the cause of seven million deaths a year. If the predictions for electric vehicle demand defined in this document are met, in just 5 years nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions could drop by up to 10%, particles (PM10) by up to 14%, and GHG could be reduced by a maximum of 18%. Imagine what this could mean for a country like Norway which is aiming for 100% electric mobility in under 10 years: lower rates of lung disease, allergies and the control of death rates attributable to fuel pollution.
