In August 2008, the City of Ottawa initiated an assignment with McCormick Rankin Corporation for the undertaking of a Functional Design and Land Preservation Study for the SW Transitway BRT/LRT Extension between Baseline Road and Norice Street, including the relocation of Baseline Station.

La conception fonctionnelle approuvée par le Conseil le 19 novembre 2008 exigeait l’aménagement d’un carrefour à niveaux différents du Transitway S.-O., allant du chemin Baseline au sud de la rue Norice. La construction d’une partie du carrefour à niveaux séparés attenant au Centre Algonquin pour l’excellence en construction, entre la promenade Navaho et l’avenue du Collège, a pris fin en 2011, en même temps que celle du Centre Algonquin pour l’excellence en construction. Appelée tunnel de la station Baseline, cette partie comprend les passerelles pour piétons du tunnel de la promenade Navaho et de l’avenue du Collège. La construction du tunnel de la station Baseline a été financée en partie par le Fonds de stimulation de l’infrastructure, lequel a été financé conjointement par les gouvernements fédéral, provincial et municipal.

On February 14, 2007, City Council approved a motion to suspend the work on the East-West Corridor (Orléans-Walkley-Kanata) LRT Environmental Assessment Study (E-W LRT). At the time of suspension, the western section of the E-W LRT had a preferred corridor selected, station locations identified and functional design options for Scotiabank Place largely completed.
