Briefings with prominent scientists, writers and poets, and anniversaries are held at the department along with the training of personnel meeting modern challenges. Scientific workshops are organized once in 15 days under the guidance of Prof. Gorkhmaz Guliyev. Scientific-theoretical problems of philology are discussed in the workshops held with the participation of professors, teachers and master students. Researchers from outside the university are also involved in the workshops.

The study of Azerbaijan language and literature are presented in the context of all-Turkish culture and world literature. It gives an opportunity to the graduates of Azerbaijan University to present Azerbaijan literature and culture in the universal context. Furthermore, philologist can work as a Turkologist and in the field of Azerbaijan studies, besides working as a researcher in his/her field in the future. For these purposes, besides the subjects considered in the curriculum, the seminar (related to the different fields of humanitarian sciences) considered for the teachers and master students of the department has an essential role for the organization of the teaching process and the development of the curriculum.
