The Program at the Objective Level to Reduce the Fossil Energy Intensity of Canada's Fishing Industry (POL 4.2.2) is funded by the Natural Resources of Canada (NRCan) Program for Energy Research and Development (PERD). The objective of POL 4.2.2 is to increase energy efficiency and reduce fossil fuel consumption in fish harvesting operations. The Program has a three year timeframe, 2000 to 2003, and has just under $1.2 million in PERD funding. It is anticipated that, over the three year period, the program will receive an additional $3 million from a variety of sources, including DFO ($520,000), other federal government ($637,500), provinces ($382,500) and industry ($1,475,000).
