An Executive Committee will be formed which will oversee the management of the POL. This committee will include representation from CANMET Energy Technology Centre - Ottawa (CANMET-O), CANMET Energy Technology Centre - Varennes(CANMET-V), NRCan's Minerals and Metals Sector (MMS), the National Research Council (NRC), Environment Canada (EC) and OERD. One of the functions of this committee will be to identify opportunities for synergies amongst POL players and encourage interaction as the POL players are made aware of the work of others. The involvement of an OERD representative on the Executive Committee will be helpful in providing guidance on PERD management and financial issues.

A first step in that direction is the Expression of Interest Letter, sent to the entire PERD community every year, which describes the proposed activities and expected outcomes of new POLs. In this letter, OERD invites expressions of interest in the new POLs from current as well as new participants. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will also participate in a multi-players POL on Bio-based Energy Systems and Technologies. This new POL will enable the development of a coherent strategic approach to using bio-resources from biomass supply to bio-fuels, bio-products and bio-processes and capitalize on the increasing interest, in Canada and internationally, in shifting to a bio-based economy which relies on biomass and bio-processes instead of fossil fuel.
