Cilji raziskave predstavljajo rdečo nit pričujočega prispevka, ki se deli v problemska področja in sledijo samemu procesu preselitve kot so jo doživeli naši sogovorniki. Tako se najprej srečamo z analizo razmer ob sami preselitvi, temu pa sledijo druga področja, kot so urejanje dokumentacije, stanovanjska problematika, zaposlovanje, izobraževanje, socialni stiki in kakovost življenja.

The goals of the research present a red thread of the contribution, which is divided into problem fields that follow the very process of transmigration as experienced by our collocutors. Thus, we first meet with an analysis of circumstances during the move; follow other fields as arranging documentation, residential problematic, employment, education, social contacts and quality of life. In the end, the contribution acquaints us with solutions as seen by our collocutors. The contribution concludes with a final statement that for conducting active policy in the field of returnship it is in the first place necessary politicians publicly declare and decide the returning of Slovenes from abroad is in the interest of the state. A grounded standpoint is expected on why the returning of citizens home or obviating intensive emigration (for example brain drain) is in the interest of this state. Only such positions would enable the formation of active policy and system adjustment.

Na osnovi rezultatov ankete, prikazanih in povzetih v pričujočem članku, lahko sklenemo v nekaj besedah dve ugotovitvi, ki kot rdeča nit izstopata iz večine anketnih odgovorov in ki dokaj zgovorno replicirata na problematiko svobodnega izražanja etnične in kulturne identitete priseljencev v Sloveniji, hkrati pa potrjujeta ugotovitve domala vseh dosedanjih raziskav o položaju priseljencev in njihovih kultur v Sloveniji:

Parts of the fieldwork, the results of which are analyzed in this article, were focused on the question of how much the immigrants from other parts of former Yugoslavia feel accepted and equal in Slovenia, and how often, in what circumstances and for what reason they may tend to conceal their ethnic/cultural identity. We wanted to find out whether – besides a degrading attitude felt in the immigrants’ closer milieu, and besides their marginalized position in society at large – a discriminatory attitude can also be observed in the Slovenian State and its institutions, and/or in some public institutions. The answer was affirmative: most of the 249 interrogated immigrants have experienced or observed some sort of ethnic maltreatment in state offices or public institutions. On the basis of the questionnaire results presented in this article, two reliable conclusions confirming the findings of all the recent studies on the status of immigrants and their cultures in Slovenia can be established:
