Lauréat de plusieurs prix, dont le 3e Prix au Concours international de Leeds (1996), il remporte le 1er Prix au Concours d’exécution musicale de Genève (1987), au Concours international Ferruccio Busoni (1989) et au Concours Umberto Micheli (1997). En 1990, il a fait ses débuts sur scène avec le Berliner Philharmoniker placé sour la direction d’Iván Fischer.

Aleksandar Madžar was born in Belgrade in 1968. He first studied the piano under the guidance of Gordana Malinovic, and later of Arbo Valdma, at the Belgrade Academy of Music. He went on to further studies with Elisso Virsaladze in Moscow and Daniel Blumenthal in Brussels. He is a laureate of several competitions, winning Third Prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1996 and First Prize at the Geneva Competition (1987) and the Ferruccio Busoni (1989) and Umberto Micheli (1997) competitions. He made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Iván Fischer in 1990. Since then, he has performed regularly all over Europe in recital and in chamber music. He also occasionally tours North and South America, South Africa, and the Far East. Aleksandar Madžar teaches at the (Flemish) Royal Brussels Conservatory.

Aleksandar Madžar (Belgrado, 1968) begon piano te studeren bij Gordana Malinovic en vervolmaakte zich bij Arbo Valdma, Elisso Virsaladze en Daniel Blumenthal in Novi Sad, Belgrado, Moskou en Brussel. Hij mocht verschillende prijzen in ontvangst nemen, waaronder de 3de Prijs in Leeds, en hij won de wedstrijden van Genève (1987), Ferruccio Busoni (1989) en Umberto Micheli (1997). In 1990 maakte hij zijn debuut met de Berliner Philharmoniker onder leiding van Iván Fischer. Sindsdien heeft hij regelmatig als solist en kamermuzikant door heel Europa getourd. Af en toe treedt hij ook op in Noord- en Zuid-Amerika, Zuid-Afrika en het Verre Oosten. Aleksandar Madžar is docent aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel.
