„Jáť jsem příčinu dal k zhubení všech duší domu otce tvého“ (1. Samuel 22:22). David byl naprosto nevinný – přesto ochotně nesl vinu jiného člověka. Věřím, že v tu chvíli začal David růst v milosti. Byl to obrovský krok k tomu, aby se stal mužem podle Božího srdce.

Yet when David heard the story, he merely bowed his head and wept. In fact, he personally took the blame for the slayings. He told Abiathar, "I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house" (1 Samuel 22:22). David was totally innocent - yet he willingly bore another man's guilt.
