Professionals should also move away from the “disability as tragedy” model and toward other models that encourage parents to celebrate the child. Professionals should use up to date assessment procedures in order to recognize children with disabilities earlier in life since early intervention is important to providing effective services to children. Families should be involved (this includes fathers) in the implementation of interventions and should be with the child during all assessments (as mothers explained that they had to leave their child during certain assessments). Also, the Romanian System of disability registration appears to be stigmatizing within itself so a revision of this process is needed.

Studies in the field show that the effects of the "parental" beating are those of violence in general. The beating adversely affects the child's development, personality, identity and dignity. The Guardian reports that Ukraine’s longest-running crisis is endemic human trafficking. In recent years an estimated 2.7 million people have fled their homes to escape conflict with pro-Russian separatists. Traffickers prey on them, with police intercepting dozens of displaced people in the hands of traffickers en route to Germany, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Israel. According to the estimations,  more than 160,000 people have been trafficked from Ukraine since independence in 1991. Children are also among the victims, the youngest of them being only three years old.

A challenge mentioned by most conference participants was changing the attitudes of professionals toward the great importance of being active members of multidisciplinary teams, referring risk situations and promptly taking action in solving the identified cases. There is certainly a need for a common, constant and consistent intervention from the responsible authorities and non-governmental sector in terms of continuous training. The experts from the Netherlands and the UK underlined that the work of multidisciplinary teams improves over time and there should be constant guidance and activities that build group cohesion. These finally lead to professionals developing a feeling of prestige to be a member of such a team, therefore changing their attitudes and quality of work.”

National College of Social Workers in Romania (CNASR) announces the start of enrolment for the third edition of "National Gala of Excellency in Social Work", the only national event that rewards the performance of those working in this field. The event will be attended by the finalists of the 18 categories, and representatives of governmental institutions and NGOs, local authorities and journalists involved in social campaigns at central and local level.

Cu privire la protecția copilului, Ministerul Muncii, Protecției Sociale și Familiei a enunțat prioritatea de a dezvolta un Model Național de Practici pentru a spori măsurile de asigurare a bunăstării copilului. În acest mod, profesioniștii care au competențe în domeniul protecției copilului vor conlucra în baza unui sistem consolidat.

With regard to child protection, the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family has set as a priority to develop a National Model of Practices to enhance measures to ensure the welfare of children. In this way, professionals who have expertise in child protection will work under a consolidated system. At the same time, the ministry aims to provide special protection to children at risk and children separated from their parents. In this respect, the first step is the Government's approval of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the "Child Protection Strategy 2014-2020". In the first half of this year, the national information campaign "Moldova - astrong family" will be launched. The campaign will involve representatives of civil society, community leaders who support families with children to mobilize joint efforts of different actors al local level.

Urmează să fie identificați acești copii, studiate dosarele lor și, în măsura posibilităților existente, și cu suportul și protecția autorităților competente, organizate interviuri cu ei. Alte modalități de colectare a informației vor fi reprezentate de interviuri cu specialiștii din domeniu  precum și cu părinții/vecinii/rudele unor din copii etc.

The main target group of the study can include the children in street situation who gather regularly and/or live more or less often in the abandoned building of the former National Hotel in Chisinau (if this is still appropriate at the time of conducting the study). The Consultant will identify these children, study their files and interview them, as far as this is possible, and will have the support and protection of the relevant authorities. Other ways to gather information will be the interviews with professionals and the parents/neighbours, relatives of the children etc.
