La continuïtat entre els nivells, entre les àrees públiques i privades, i entre l'interior i l'exterior és un tema constant.

Situado en el pequeño pueblo de Teià, en las afueras de Barcelona, el sitio de esta casa unifamiliar mira hacia el Mar Mediterráneo. Con referencias a la arquitectura doméstica mediterránea tradicional, el diseño se basó en capturar la luz y el paisaje de la costa catalana en el interior y la pendiente del sitio fue un factor determinante, permitiendo su desarrollo en tres niveles. La continuidad entre los niveles, entre las áreas públicas y privadas, y entre el interior y el exterior es un tema constante. Organizada en dos volúmenes claros, la casa se define como una serie de plataformas desde donde disfrutar de espléndidas vistas del mar. Al mismo tiempo, la casa absorbe el paisaje costal, transformándolo en un telón de fondo para la vida doméstica cotidiana.

Lengthwise, the building stands as close as possible to the north limit of the site, leaving a free space that will serve as an outside parking area. In what concerns about its functional program, the building is structured in two specific areas: the one that houses de municipal market with its support areas, and the one with the supermarket. The access to the market is made by two opposite and distinguished points. The access to the parking deck located on the rooftop is located on the west side of the building, as well as the loading dock. From each entrance to the market one reaches a central patio, from which is possible to reach all the market stands. On this central area one also finds the vertical communication core that gives access to the parking area on the rooftop.

Los accesos al mercado se producen por dos puntos claramente diferenciados. En el extremo Oeste del edificio se encuentra el acceso al aparcamiento en cubierta y al acceso de carga y descarga. Desde los accesos del mercado se llega a un espacio central con un patio abierto, desde el que accede a todas las paradas. En la parte central el núcleo de comunicaciones permite la conexión del aparcamiento en cubierta y el mercado.

For this reason, the bungalow is intended as a weekend retreat but may eventually become a full time home. The project takes advantage of the topography of the land on which it sits and the impressive view it offers. This view informs the geometry of the project, whose outline is adapted to make the most of the landscape. It explores small scale housing and the relationship between architecture and landscape, between the user and nature – a relationship which is intended to be direct but without mimicry. The house is divided into two areas – one public and one private. These two areas are divided by a strip of tropical flora which penetrates the architectural mass and allows for cross ventilation within the building. In front of the bungalow are two large terraces – open spaces which act as an extension of the living areas of the proposal.

Tepoztlán is known for its wild natural landscape and is a haven for artists and intellectuals who are attracted by its serene atmosphere - and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. For this reason, the bungalow is intended as a weekend retreat but may eventually become a full time home. The project takes advantage of the topography of the land on which it sits and the impressive view it offers. This view informs the geometry of the project, whose outline is adapted to make the most of the landscape. It explores small scale housing and the relationship between architecture and landscape, between the user and nature – a relationship which is intended to be direct but without mimicry. The house is divided into two areas – one public and one private. These two areas are divided by a strip of tropical flora which penetrates the architectural mass and allows for cross ventilation within the building. In front of the bungalow are two large terraces – open spaces which act as an extension of the living areas of the proposal.

The studio Ribas & Ribas Architects was founded in Barcelona in 1957 by José Ribas Gonzalez together with two more partners, establishing collaborations with renowned architects as Josep Lluís Sert among others. Since its inception, it has adopted its work to a precise methodology that has given it extensive expertise in all sorts of buildings. In 1987, with the incorporation of José Ribas to the study, the initial society dissolves and starts a new stage. In 1994, Mrs. Inma Ribas starts to work in the studio, being responsible for projects during its execution phase and working closely to her father and her brother. Later, in 2010, Adriana Ribas joined the company, representing the third generation of architects in the studio, adding value to the experience obtained during more than 50 years. They have specialists in different fields of architecture and urbanism and are currently working on large projects and collaborating, among others, with Ateliers Jean Nouvel. Ribas & Ribas has developed several projects such as the Columbus tower in Barcelona, the Church of Baqueira - Beret, the New IESE's Business School in Barcelona, the Hotel Renaissance Barcelona Fira and the Life Marina condominium in Ibiza in association with Jean Nouvel, the Ronda de Dalt Funeral Parlour in Barcelona...

En 2010, la sociedad incorpora a Adriana Ribas, representando la tercera generación de arquitectos dentro del estudio, sumándose a la experiencia adquirida durante más de 50 años al servicio de la sociedad. From there, heading in a southerly direction, you approach the communal areas as well as the day centre facilities where the sanitary office, psychologist, social assistance office, hairdresser and the podiatrist are found. Finally you reach a gallery that has access to a portico space and the garden. The same gallery also opens into the gymnasium and arts and crafts centre, both of which have been arranged in such as way as to allow them to open up into one large, flexible space that joins with the main entrance lobby if need be. All of these spaces are arranged around a small interior garden patio that provides adequate daylight and induces natural ventilation.

Desde ahí, en dirección hacia el sur, nos acercamos a las áreas comunes y a las instalaciones del centro de día, donde se encuentran el espacio de atención sanitaria, el psicólogo, el servicio de asistencia social, la peluquería y el podólogo. Finalmente, llegamos a una galería por la que se accede a un espacio porticado y al jardín. La misma galería comunica con el gimnasio y con el centro de artes y oficios, ambos dispuestos de manera que comunican con un espacio amplio y adaptable que conecta con el vestíbulo de la entrada principal si es necesario. Todos estos espacios están situados alrededor de un pequeño patio jardín interior que suministra la luz de día adecuada y ventilación natural.
