Le gouvernement du Canada effectue une consultation en ligne pour connaître le point de vue des collectivités de personnes handicapées sur la ratification de la Convention des Nations Unies relative aux droits des personnes handicapées. J'ai présenté notre point de vue en juillet au nom de l'ASC et des organismes affiliés.

The Government of Canada is using on-line consultation to seek the views of Canadian disability communities about the ratification of the United Nation Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. On the behalf of CAD and its affiliates, I submitted our view in July. We recognize especially the five articles (2, 9, 21, 24, and 30) of the Convention that relate to Deaf issues. The disability organizations are urging the federal government to ratify the Convention on December 3, 2009 (International Disability Day).

CCD continues to work with Elections Canada to make the electoral process more accessible to people with disabilities. CCD has been assisting Elections Canada develop a plan for a workshop where people with disabilities would share their perspectives as voters with disabilities with Elections Canada staff.
